To calibrate 8½ digit multimeters is no easy feat. The software first has to characterize the standards that will be used, then transfer that characterization and measurement errors to the 8588A during the calibration. Though Metrology.NET is unmatched when it comes to standards and flexibility, when it comes to calibrating 8½ digit multimeters, there are few standards accurate enough to do the job. At a minimum, a calibration lab will need a Fluke 5720A/5730A source, 5790A/5790B AC volt meter, A40/A40B shunts, standard resistors, and 5520A with a Hioki IM3533 LCR Meter.
